A little room with a lot of pride.

This room was deemed and unhabitable room as far as the council was concerned......Insert roll eyes here.....
So on the plans we had to call it a pantry... and it would have been the greatest upstairs pantry ever. But we had other plans for this space and I can I tell you it is neearly finished no, no handles as yet and nothing in there but soon it will be a little room with a lot of pride.
We wanted to have a designated study area but this little house need more space dedicated to other rooms so we decided a great plan was needed and of course great visionary design....cue the decorator...ooh thats me....
Here is the progress so far
Hubby and I each have laptops so 1 side each and I am thinking a little ottoman cube for our chairs.
He is determined to put his model motorbikes and hotrods on "my" display shelf....I had made the overheads low enough for them to go up there....hhmmm I wounder who is going to win this one.

Inspiration

I'm loving these images from Restoration Hardware. Calm, classic and very stylish.

The blinds are up.

The blinds are chosen, ordered, arrived and up....well for downstairs they are.
This was one of the hardest decisions and it may not be what I ultimatley wanted but we all have to make sacrifices to gain in other places.......you will see, there will be other places I gain.
Regardless, these blinds are a great backdrop for any potential curtains to be placed over the top.
Especially when it comes to the Master bedroom and of course the young Masters bedroom.
Blinds below curtain ideas to follow.

The Replacement

So I have found the bed that is going to replace our 1st ever purchased bed as a married couple....and you know I have not blinked an eye lid about letting it go.
I have had friends and family say..oh but thats your 1st bed together...uuummmm are you serious, how long am I supposed to keep it for?
No this is definately a good thing, no a great thing... I have fallen in love with a bed thats a little out of our budget but well you can't put a price on love now can you.
So I am telling you all this with the idea that I am going to win the battle of beating the budget and hopefully the Minister of Elements Finances will conceed defeat.
You just never know what can happen after 4 solid nights of sleeping on a blow up mattress can do.
I love the parquetry look of the bed head and in my mind its as close to anything Jimmy possum that I could never afford. Its also a really high bed head which I think is very grand.
Yes the other bed set has sold and is being picked up tomorrow evening.......
Its amazing what 12 months will do to your style.
Check out what I previously had signed up for in my mind and you couldn't have talked me out of it....so glad I have a very level headed husband who tells me to wait until the house is finished being built before  purchasing.

Its also just occured to me I will have to play my cards very well to talk the my way into getting that bedroom chair I eyed off........

Organisation Inspiration

I have taken inspiration from Katrina Chambers posts on organising and here we have the start of a very organised house....I am actually looking at putting things away in a completely different light.
I must say not every selection could be the best you can buy but so far I have chosen what suits me and is still affordable.

So we now have a wall.
We have been very happy with our tradesmen and their work and thankfully the rain stayed away just long enough to keep us moving along. This week the driveway and paths will be poured and hopefully a little less sand will stow away on our legs and try and set up house in our floors.

The pool is now completely finished and the renderer will be back this week to try and finish his work off.
We are really starting to bring it together.

The skirting boards had a false start with a young tradie starting the job but after a full days work poor hubby had to let him go as they were all done in a way that just didn't make sense. Now how will I dust the little section there. Amazing.
