A chair for all occasions

Have you considered an armchair?
Did you wonder where on earth it would fit in your home and what style to get, well I am and so far this little beauty is winning.....It is made out of 100% bamboo and the colours are beautiful...there is a lovely natural stripe that I may look at, but the red although not for me is very striking.
These chairs also made the shortlist.....decisions to be made and husbands to be convinced

Bohemian Chic

These wooden side tables have a rustic Bohemian feel and would make a wonderful contrast in a contemporary setting or sit equally well in a more eclectic coastal situation.
I love the hint of colour showing through the bleached finish.

BOYS BEDROOM

The painting of the boys room was finished last night......one step closer
Oh and don't mind the dodgey camera photos at night but I couldn't wait to show off the progress.

WALL ART

More decisions, this time which wall art where and does it all suit this house or should I be on the lookout for new ones........
I have the double bass to find a home for and my ladder magazine rack, all these things need homes in the new house and there is more aswell.......I think I have too many things for my walls........

Our large painting is it outdated? maybe but there is something about it I love and can't part with.

Then there are the 2 ebony statues above the armchair and one very large baby pic of DS and 1 of our wedding pics to the right.
I don't generally agree with personal photos in the living areas but we paid too much money for them to not show them off to the world.
A selection of family and friends I think will go in the stairwell

My beloved over sized glas clock, this needs the perfect home.

This one is metal and quite possibly a great peice for outside I am thinking.

Lighting as a talking piece

I have never thought so hard about lighting in all my life, but hey there has to be a 1st for everything..
I have always luurved the look of so many different pendants that it was hard to narrow down the choices but to use the most used cliche in history.... at the end of the day....  I needed to stick with classic elegance that won't date (in my mind anyway) and leave all the others to line my road of wishful pendants.
Where I started and where I finished, was quite a journey
So you can see my journey from wanting to travel the path of extreme talking piece pendants to a little more subtle.

Loving our new rugs

This is just one of the fabulous new rugs we now have in store. Appropriately named bamboo its made from soft comfortable pure cotton. We also have several great handmade shaggy styles in wonderful neutral tones.

Downstairs is done...

So its day 3 and my poor hubby has been sleeping on a blow up mattress in the new house while I stay at the reno house with DS in our comfortable home.......although I can't wait to move.
He has been painting day and night without any interruptions and we get to drop by with his meals and see the exciting new painted walls.
Today our downstairs has been completely painted and I got to see it when we dropped by with dinner for the hardest working husband on this day.

So without further adieu here is the highlight colour for our living area.
Dulux Ploughed Earth

From many angles

I don't know how but DS is colour co-ordinated with the kitchen.
These photos were all taken on my phone so not the best quality and its night time but its a great start.
Did I mention I love it.

The cutest garden on the block

So we have the smallest piece of land in the area, but we decided it had to pack a punch and it had to compliment our home.
I wanted to make sure the smallest detail was organised before we even started building. So many plans later we have it sorted and now its starting to take shape.
We didn't put lights in our walls of our garage but instead we will be putting them in the concrete driveway as up lights and placing those same up lights in our planter boxes to shine up the trees....and this decision needed to be made before the build otherwise we would have paid for wiring that was never needed.
Then knowing how small the land was externally we knew we had to be smart and creative. We also had to keep in mind our active growing son and potential new siblings along the way (now don't ask me, because we still haven't decided.)...but also our lovely canine daughter...both these people need yard to play in.

So we decided on a pool and special planter box areas to define our plants...
The pool is being dug today and the planter boxes were finished being built on the weekend.
We have changed our minds on the steps up to the front door but its not a big deal its just the decision to do concrete instead of limestone so just a change of finish.
I have earmarked a mature Magnolia for the middle planter box and some grasses around the base and some low growing grass type plants along the side.

YUMMY TOP COAT

So when we decided on our all over paint colour we had to consider the impact from a few different views.
We were very aware that this colour would be viewed next to our bench tops, overhead cabinets, exterior render, curtains and blinds and floors....so a lot of serious consideration.
Then came hubby's other twitching moment when I announced I wanted to paint 1 side of the kitchen in whole different colour and thread it through the lounge/dining area as well....

He is so patient and understanding and I think actually takes on the same level of excitement when we come to our final decision.

The funniest thing was his eyes widening when he starting painting the all over colour on the walls.
He of course is painting a beige on white plaster and was convinced it was way to dark, as any colour looks against white.
Yes it appears that way until you paint all the walls and it drys.
He is aware of all these things but he momentarily freaked out.
My walls are Dulux Buff It 100% and the feature will be Dulux Ploughed Earth 100%
We previously had Dulux Ecru 100% and I liked it alot.
First thoughts on this new colour is I love, I love it, I love it.
Its like a better version of the Ecru. This wall in the middle will be separating our Living and Dining areas and will be the same feature colour as the wall that the pantry and the fridge will be on in the kitchen.

The colour is dark enough to appear like the overhead feature cabinet colour is running all the way around the kitchen.
I can't wait to see the final outcome with this look.

We have been doing some planning for the decor and the 1st room completely decided on is our spunky little mans room..
We have decided to treat it as a room all to itself, no need to try and tye it in with everything, we are just making it look like a boys room should with our tatse in mind.

So a simple dado rail around 1200 high all the way around and then a beautiful dulux colour called Ocean(I think, note to self must check again)
Some wood slat blinds and curtains to compliment over the top. I am thinking the curtains should be in a navy, beige and cream stripe fabric. This is bit is still to be completely decided on but we have the ideas.
He will have bamboo floors and a large rug. I am thinking also a decal of some sort, writing or a picture is still to be confirmed.
