I always try and get a feel from my clients what sort of style they like through images.

When going into someones home for the 1st time its very easy to get clouded by whats already there and what style they already have. Altrenatively if they are building and don't have a home full of personal style yet you need to help find their style. So how do you find out where they want to head style wise for the future.

I find if I give them visual names the clients guide me towards their new style profile with much less confusion.

Here are some of my style guides. Which one are you?

Urban Living/ Design

Contemporary with an Industrial influence, the energy created is still calm, happy and comfortable without being too commercial. The use of white as a base with monochromatic tones of greys, charcoals and stainless steel are used to produce a very minimalist and modern home. This scheme will last through the years as you can add splashes of vibrant sole colour as you please. Many feature colours complement this scheme and invite enthusiasm and energy.

Natural Living/ Rustic

This scheme is inspired by colours that capture the essence of nature. With this muted palette easily translates into countless materials to create your home - from paint, laminate, textiles and tiles, through to homewares and furniture. The influence of environmental colours for this warm and neutral scheme are khaki greens, natural oak with tones of cocoa and brown.

I worked for a national furniture and home wares store and looked after their in store merchandising at their different stores around Perth.

I loved being able to add certain personal ideas and seeing what I created being loved by the customers and what worked and what didn't.

It was amazing seeing how different personalities were drawn to different lifestyle ideas and hearing the reasons behind their decisions.

This experience along with my personal experience, building (up to number 3 now) and renovating (just finished number 5) and having lived in way too many houses to count. I feel completely comfortable with the knowledge that I have made every single house work and look like a sanctuary I don't want to leave.

Elements was created to help others be inspired in the same way.

If you are building I can help you find the exact colours and themes you are looking for through paint, cabinet colours, tiles and flooring choices and make sure you have the best floor floor plan and layout for your lifestyle.

If you are renovating I can help you find trades and services and guide you in the planning stages.

Once upon a time.

Its almost time to get the keys to our new home.
We will finally be ready to start ordering new furniture and make final decisions regarding the decorating and fruniture pieces that we will require to make our build become our home.

Paint and feature walls were our 1st decision and we co-ordinated the colours to suit our doors and frames, our cabinet colours, our floors and our tiles.
To be honest we had a fair idea prior to selecitng all these things but the actual final decisions have changed over the last few months but the new colours chosen are still within the same tones so its not an issue.
INSPIRATION
On the left we have in the background our floor and wall tile, bamboo floors throughout, over head cupboards in the kitchen, stone benchtops and white cabinets.
On the right we have the laundry colours.
Above we have the ensuite and bathroom colours.

We have always been interested in stepping outside our "safe" colours but for us and for me as a decorator I get to see the hits and misses way to often.
Although saying something is a miss is completely subjective and to the client or owner that decision to put spotted cabinets could be the most amazing look they have ever seen.
I love adding colour though accessories as I am a homewares addict and I love mixing lots of looks and elements to create my personal space.
This is what I plan to do with this home. I hope you enjoy my journey and get to see how a decorator styles their own home.

New Window Display

As a result of a very busy Saturday that sold most of the furniture pieces from the window, Sunday morning has been all about re-merchanding and installing our new window display.
This week we are very excited to receive the first of three containers of fantastic new pieces for our showroom. I can't wait to show our new rugs and cushions followed by our new very Hampton's inspired wicker collection later this month.....
